So who are Group 170?
As a newly formed group, we are very lucky to have the chance to start from scratch in creating a new Lourdes family. Right from the start, we have had a group leader and deputy, a group doctor, a group nurse, a chaplain and two other experienced helpers. Many of our friends are already interested in joining our group, and these include another nurse and doctor, and another primary school teacher. Between us, we have already been to Lourdes with HCPT over 20 times with 4 different groups.
As a group, our main experience is in teaching and caring for younger children, and so we plan to initially take children at the younger end of the HCPT spectrum, mainly of primary school age, or those older children with learning difficulties. We are very lucky to have at least two nurses and two doctors who hope to travel with us, and so we would like to be able to offer places to children with complex medical needs, that may not be able to be managed in all groups. Although we are based in Southampton, we would expect to take children from about a 20-30 mile radius.
